Culture
Ireland has an ancient Celtic culture -the ruins of castles and monuments can be seen throughout the countryside some of which are older than the pyramids.
Ireland has a strong literary tradition and words have always been important. Some of the finest writers in the English language hail from Ireland- James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw to name but a few.
Artists such as U2, Enya, Van Morrison and The Corrs, have had huge success on the world stage and the international musical phenomenon Riverdance, has attracted new audiences to traditional Irish music and dance.
