Transition Year In France

LLI offers transition year students a unique opportunity to attend a quality secondary school in France and experience the French way of life and culture at first hand. Students participating in the programme improve their written and oral language skills by spending time in the country where it is spoken and enjoy a broad educational experience in a structured and secure environment. This programme is an ideal preparation for students who are contemplating studying French for the leaving Certificate.

The programme

Students accepted on to the programme are placed in a French Secondary school which is selected based on the student’s academic and personality profile. We cannot guarantee a placement in a particular region or city however most placements are in Nantes, Rennes, Toulouse, Paris, Biarritz and the South of France. Transition year students follow the standard French school curriculum studying all subjects through French. They participate fully in the life of the school and take part in various school activities including sport, extra curricular activities, and outings where possible. At the end of the stay students receive a full report and certificate. Each student is assigned a local co-ordinator who is available to offer ongoing support and assistance

Accommodation

Students are accommodated with our carefully selected host families or in a boarding school subject to preference and availability. Students availing of Homestay are placed with one of our carefully selected host families chosen and visited by the local co-ordinator. Students have breakfast and evening meal with their families and lunch is eaten in the school cafeteria. This is an ideal opportunity for the student to experience French life and culture and friendships are often made and continue long after the student goes home. Students in Boarding school are accommodated in local host families during the weekend when the schools close.
